Engineering is exactly like design in many ways. The two go together in almost every aspect. When we design a nice interior we still need to think about it from the viewpoint of an engineer tasked to make it practical and buildable. There is no place for beautiful design that is not available in parts to buy. Or that is not buildable. Or that will not withstand the near future. Placing nice elements that are prone to rust in a seaside house is not something that can be called good engineering. Even if it looks good on the opening day when the turnkey is to happen. Later on, it will prove to be a bad design that was not engineered appropriately

Anyone can be a designer. It is not hard to come up with a nice idea. And gather nice elements. But not everyone will be able to make that feasible and practical. Same with engineering a good project is always much better when scientific principles where used and the over cost, overall time, and overall workflow are engineered practically without using unnecessary materials or worker hours. A nicely design form of a building or house might not be buildable per civil rules and regulations. But in case it is. Then it might be too expensive and impractical as a final product. That is where a good engineer can show skill and polish the project.

As time goes on technology has helped us all in this workflow. It is much easier to showcase your design and idea in a 3D model. Also, it is easier to finish that digital twin on a real scale 1:1 and be sure that everything fits and that no delays will happen on the construction site once it starts. Since that will be both time-consuming and cost-ineffective. Technology is there to help us preapprove everything so that when the first shovel fits the site everything is ready to steamroll to the finish line.
